Pizza Cook – Fine Dining Italian Restaurant

 

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Pizza Cook to join our Back of House team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in high-volume pizza preparation, especially in traditional Neapolitan-style techniques, and a commitment to culinary excellence.

 

As a Pizza Cook, you will be responsible for preparing pizzas and related dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards. You will use traditional methods, high-quality ingredients, and specialized equipment to ensure consistency, flavor, and presentation. This role requires a strong understanding of dough handling, oven operation, and food safety practices.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare, portion, and cook pizzas and related items according to standardized recipes.
  • Execute Neapolitan-style pizza techniques, including dough stretching, topping, and baking in high-temperature ovens.
  • Assess ingredients for freshness and quality; rotate stock to ensure optimal use.
  • Ensure each dish meets brand standards for flavor, portion, assembly, and presentation.
  • Have ingredients prepped and ready to go daily.
  • Operate pizza ovens and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pizza station, refrigerators, and prep areas.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures in compliance with local and international standards.
  • Work closely with the chef and kitchen team to fulfill prep and service needs.
  • Participate in daily briefings and communicate supply needs or issues.
  • Ensure a smooth handoff to the next shift by following closing procedures and checklists.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of kitchen experience, including food handling, prep, or line work.
  • Food Safety Certification is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working a pizza station in a high-volume kitchen.

Preferred

  • Experience preparing Neapolitan-style pizza using traditional methods and high-heat ovens.
  • Knowledge of Italian cuisine and ingredients.
  • Familiarity with various cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

  • Strong dough handling and pizza-making skills.
  • Ability to follow recipes and plating standards precisely.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

 

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs and work in hot, fast-paced environments.
  • Operates kitchen and office equipment as needed.
  • Availability required for lunch and dinner shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Expected to work 35+ hours per week, with flexibility based on business needs.
