Job Description

Sous Chef – Portuguese Restaurant

About the Role

We’re looking for a Sous Chef to support our Head Chef and help run the kitchen day to day. This is a great opportunity for a confident, motivated chef who enjoys being on the pass, supporting the team, and growing their skills.

If you’re an experienced Chef de Partie looking to move up, or a Sous Chef wanting to work in a calmer, quality-focused kitchen — we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the Head Chef during prep and service
  • Helping ensure dishes are cooked and presented consistently
  • Supervising and guiding junior chefs during busy periods
  • Assisting with prep planning, stock control, and kitchen organisation
  • Stepping in when needed to keep service running smoothly
  • Helping maintain a positive, respectful kitchen environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience as a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie
  • Interest in Portuguese cuisine (experience is a bonus, not a must)
  • A hands-on, reliable team player
  • Calm under pressure and willing to learn
  • Good understanding of hygiene and food safety




Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie.
  • Knowledge and experience in Portuguese cuisine and cooking techniques (advantageous).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of food safety and kitchen compliance standards.

Salary - R15 000 – R20 000 GROSS Per Month
