Job Summary:
The Interior Designer is responsible for designing and creating functional, aesthetically pleasing, and cohesive interior spaces for hotel properties. This includes guest rooms, lobbies, restaurants, meeting areas, and other public spaces. The Interior Designer works closely with architects, project managers, hotel owners, and other stakeholders to ensure that the interior design aligns with the brand, operational requirements, and guest experience goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Concept Development
- Create and develop interior design concepts that reflect the hotel's brand identity, operational needs, and guest expectations.
- Produce design presentations, mood boards, and design renderings for approval from stakeholders.
- Select design elements, including furniture, fabrics, colors, lighting, and finishes, ensuring cohesion with the overall concept.
- Space Planning and Layouts
- Develop functional and efficient floor plans that optimize space utilization while enhancing guest comfort and experience.
- Design layouts for various hotel spaces, including guest rooms, suites, lobbies, lounges, restaurants, bars, and meeting rooms.
- Consider traffic flow, accessibility, and safety in all design decisions.
- Material and Product Selection
- Select furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) that meet aesthetic goals, durability, and functionality standards.
- Source materials, fabrics, finishes, and lighting that align with the overall design vision and hotel brand.
- Research and select sustainable, eco-friendly materials that align with modern sustainability practices.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders
- Collaborate with management, architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals to ensure design alignment with operational, budgetary, and construction requirements.
- Work closely with the hotel management team to ensure the design meets guest expectations and enhances the guest experience.
- Coordinate with other design professionals (e.g., lighting designers, landscape architects) to create cohesive and unified spaces.
- Budget and Schedule Management
- Prepare cost estimates for interior design projects, including the selection of furniture, finishes, and materials.
- Ensure designs are executed within the established budget and timeline.
- Source products and materials that offer the best value while maintaining high design and quality standards.
- Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Design
- Incorporate sustainable design practices, including energy-efficient lighting, water-saving fixtures, and recyclable materials.
- Stay updated on the latest sustainable design trends, technologies, and green certifications.
- Design with a focus on environmental impact while maintaining aesthetic appeal and guest comfort.
- Construction Documentation and Detailing
- Prepare and review detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation for construction and installation purposes.
- Ensure that designs are executed according to specifications during the construction phase.
- Visit sites regularly during construction to ensure designs are being implemented correctly and to resolve any issues that arise.
- Vendor and Contractor Coordination
- Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to manage product procurement, delivery, and installation.
- Ensure that products and materials meet quality standards and are delivered on schedule.
- Oversee the installation process, ensuring that design elements are correctly executed and meet the desired standards.
- Guest Experience Focus
- Design hotel interiors that foster a welcoming, comfortable, and memorable experience for guests.
- Ensure that interiors are functional, user-friendly, and provide an atmosphere that aligns with the hotel’s brand and target market.
- Focus on creating spaces that balance aesthetic appeal with practicality, ensuring that both guests and hotel staff benefit from the design.
