Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking meals
- Work with other chefs and provide support and share best practice
- In partnership with colleagues’ input into the creation of new and innovative menus and products
- Effective communication with general assistants to ensure meals are assembled to the required plan and standard
- Advise Stores and Procurement regarding the placement of orders and ensure the right products are being purchased
- Prepare and conduct Customer presentations
- Effectively communicate with the Shift Manager and advise on any issues, concerns or crisis with Production or delivery
- To actively support continuous improvement efficiencies within the Kitchen and across the business
- Ensure internal quality assurance checks versus approved specification/recipes
- To communicate, engage and develop team members to enable them to maximise their contribution to the department’s performance and create succession planning opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Educated to GSE or ‘O’ levels;
- Basic Food hygiene training/certification
- A recognised City & Guilds qualification or NVQ Level 2 for a Chef desirable
Work Experience:
- Significant experience of cooking Chinese food in a hotel/restaurant/airline environment.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment using own initiative
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Accurate/detailed focused
