The Special Events & Seasonal Dining Room Bartender supports off-season special events and is also scheduled to work in dining rooms during race meets. This role is ideal for bartenders who thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment and enjoy providing polished, efficient bar service for both special events and race-meet dining operations. Bartenders in this role help ensure guests receive warm, professional beverage service that reflects Keeneland’s standards and traditions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages during special events and race meets
Provide attentive, professional bar service while maintaining efficient service flow
Set up, stock, and maintain bar areas, including glassware, garnishes, and supplies
Follow standardized recipes and portioning guidelines as required
Accurately operate the Micros POS system for beverage orders (training provided)
Monitor guest alcohol consumption and follow responsible alcohol service guidelines
Communicate with servers, managers, and support staff regarding timing and guest needs
Assist with bar setup, service flow, and breakdown after events
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and a professional appearance at all times
Qualifications
One to two years of bartending or banquet bar experience preferred
Knowledge of basic cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Strong guest service and communication skills
Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift 25 lbs or more
Ability to reach, bend, lift, and carry items as needed
Availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and race meet schedules
Licensing & Certifications
A Kentucky Horse Racing Commission license is required for all track workers and is provided upon hire.
A Food Handler’s Certificate is required for all food and beverage track workers.
Responsible alcohol service certification is required (or must be obtained upon hire).
