Job Description: Sous Chef - Italian Cuisine

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in designing and implementing the Italian menu.
  • Prepare and cook high-quality Italian dishes following the established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure that food is prepared safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Handle food inventory management, including ordering and storing ingredients.
  • Monitor food quality and ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Assist in developing new recipes and menu items to stay current with culinary trends.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to coordinate service and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in regular kitchen meetings to discuss improvements and team performance.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary role with a focus on Italian cuisine.
  • Certification from a culinary school or relevant vocational training.
  • Strong knowledge of Italian cooking techniques and ingredients.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain high-quality standards under pressure.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills with a passion for training others.

Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in Italian restaurants.
  • Experience in a supervisory role managing kitchen staff.
  • Demonstrated creativity in menu development and culinary presentation.
  • Proficient in food safety and sanitation regulations.
