As part of the opening of our new restaurant Berta in Berlin, we are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier with a strong sense of hospitality and a genuine desire to share expertise.
You will play a key role in crafting the guest experience while inspiring and training the team around you.

Main Responsibilities:

• Create and regularly update the wine list, ensuring compliance with regulations, current trends, and customer expectations.

• Present and promote the wine list to guests, offering tailored recommendations in harmony with the Chef’s menu.

• Ensure the elegant and precise service of wine — from bottle presentation and opening to tasting.

• Share the stories behind the wines, highlighting producers, terroirs, and the philosophy of each selection to create a memorable experience.

• Train and guide the front-of-house team to enhance their wine knowledge and service skills:

  • Develop confidence in selling wines by the glass,

  • Teach proper serving techniques,

  • Encourage storytelling and guest engagement around wine.

• Manage the wine cellar: oversee inventory, control stock rotation, handle orders and supplier relationships.

• Guarantee proper storage, temperature control, and organization of the wine selection.

• Contribute to the overall satisfaction and loyalty of our guests through a refined and passionate approach to service.

Profil recherché

Profile:

• Certified training in Sommellerie with proven experience in a similar role.

• Deep knowledge of French and international wines, spirits, and current trends.

• Natural ability to teach, motivate, and share knowledge with others.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a refined sense of service.

• Curiosity, precision, and genuine passion for the world of wine.

• Fluent in English (German is a strong advantage).
