Positioned on the riverfront of Howard Smith Wharves, Stanley is a Cantonese restaurant inspired by the moody waterfront of Hong Kong’s picturesque Stanley Bay. Stanley’s menu combines the best local produce with traditional Cantonese flavours.

We are seeking a highly motivated Sommelier to help lead our wine program at Stanley. This role could be suitable for someone seeking part time or full-time hours. In this role you will work closely with our Group Sommelier and venue Sommeliers as you take our guests on a journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Guide guests in selecting wines that complement their preferences, meal choices, and budget.
  • Actively promote and up-sell wines and beverages, ensuring that guests are aware of premium options.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of wines, ensuring proper organisation and storage.
  • Provide training to waitstaff and other team members on wine knowledge, pairing techniques, and service standards.
  • Ensure proper wine service, including temperature control, correct glassware, and pouring techniques, to deliver a high-quality guest experience.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong wine knowledge
  • Engaging personal presence with outstanding verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrate highly developed customer service skills coupled with passion of good food and wine
  • WSET 2 or 3 highly desirable
  • Hold a valid NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate
