Job Description

Constance Lemuria, a luxurious resort in the breathtaking Seychelles, is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier to join our world-class team. As our Sommelier, you will play a crucial role in elevating our guests' dining experiences through your expertise in wine selection, food pairing, and exceptional customer service.

  • Curate and maintain an extensive wine list that complements our resort's culinary offerings
  • Provide expert wine recommendations to guests, enhancing their dining experience
  • Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for both guests and staff
  • Manage wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage of wine
  • Train and mentor junior staff on wine knowledge and service standards
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative food and wine pairings
  • Ensure proper wine service procedures are followed across all dining outlets
  • Stay updated on wine trends, new vintages, and emerging wine regions
  • Maintain the wine cellar, ensuring optimal storage conditions for all wines
  • Assist in developing wine-focused events and promotions to engage guests
  • Contribute to the resort's beverage cost control and profitability goals

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sommelier in luxury hotels or fine dining restaurants
  • WSET Level 2 certification (minimum) or equivalent professional wine qualification
  • Advanced knowledge of wines, including varietals, regions, and production methods
  • Excellent palate and ability to describe wines' characteristics effectively
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on creating memorable guest experiences
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French or additional languages is highly advantageous
  • Proven experience in wine inventory management and cellar organization
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in food and wine pairing
  • Experience with wine list curation and management
  • Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management software
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, luxury resort environment
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Experience in tropical or remote island locations is a plus
  • Passion for continuous learning and staying updated on wine industry trends
