JOB PURPOSE
The Head Waiter assists the Maitre D' Hotel and the Asst. Maitre D’Hotel in supervising all Food and Beverage service activities. Ensures that the highest quality of service is maintained in the assigned area and controls that the staff follows MSC Cruises policies and procedure.
KEY RESPOSIBILITIES
- Supervises all Waiters, Asst. Waiters and Buffet Staff work as a team in the assigned area
- Ensures that assigned station are ready on time and guest are welcome using their names
- Carefully supervising the assigned section ensure guest satisfaction
- Effectively replace waiters if necessary, in order to maintain service standards
- Maximises revenue for food and beverage products
- Oversees that table settings and ensures that all equipment is used correctly to avoid unnecessary damage
- Ensures that the assigned areas comply with sanitation procedures (USPH)
- Monitors the restaurant’s inventory
- Ensures that the staff is familiar with menu content, wine list, and food and wine pairing
QUALIFICATIONS
- Fluent English, oral and written. Any additional European language is considered an advantage (Italian, Portuguese, German, Spanish and French)
- Previous ship experience is mandatory
- High School certificate is an advantage or equivalent experience on board Cruise Ships
- Full knowledge of USPH standards
- Computer literacy
- Good management and organisation skills
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Passion about hospitality and customer service driven
