Pastry Chef
Reporting to the Head Chef, the Pastry Chef specializes in Pastry & Dessert. They thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating creativity, precision, and a commitment to excellence. The Pastry Chef crafts exceptional pastries, breads, cakes, and desserts while ensuring high standards in quality, presentation, and efficiency.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Prepare, bake, and present a variety of pastries, breads, pies, cakes, and desserts, ensuring creativity and excellence in decoration and presentation.
- Develop and curate dessert menus for wine tastings, catering services, and special events.
- Ensure all pastry and dessert items meet Miles’ quality and presentation standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and order ingredients, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Accurately determine food costs and pricing for pastry and dessert creations.
- Assist in all areas of a busy kitchen when required, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
- Collaborate with the Catering Department and provide support during events and off-site functions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the role as required.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a Pastry Chef in a fast-paced environment is required.
- Proven expertise in creating and presenting high-quality baked goods, pastries, and desserts.
- Strong knowledge of food costing and pricing strategies.
- Ability to design and execute dessert menus tailored for special occasions and wine pairings.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a collaborative kitchen team.
- Hardworking, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional food and service.
- Must be neat in appearance, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Light Private Truck License is advantageous but not a necessity.
Work Environment:
- Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, lifting up to 30 pounds, and working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Hours of Operation:
- Miles Market operates Monday to Saturday from 7:30am - 7:30pm; Sundays from 10:00am - 5:00pm.
