A food and beverage (F&B) Hostess, or Host, is responsible for providing a welcoming and positive first impression for guests in a restaurant or similar establishmentThey manage the initial guest experience by greeting customers, seating them, and ensuring a smooth transition to their dining experience. They also handle reservations, manage waitlists, and may assist with other tasks to support the overall dining experience. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greeting and Seating Guests:F&B Hostesses warmly welcome guests upon arrival, manage seating arrangements based on reservations and table availability, and escort guests to their tables. 

  • Managing Reservations:They handle phone calls and reservations, organize seating charts, and maintain accurate records of guest bookings. 

  • Providing Information:They may answer guest inquiries about the menu, restaurant services, and wait times, and offer recommendations or suggestions. 

  • Maintaining a Welcoming Atmosphere:They contribute to a positive dining environment by ensuring guests feel comfortable, acknowledged, and valued. 

  • Assisting with Operations:They may help with setting up tables, clearing them after use, and ensuring the dining area is clean and organized. 

  • Handling Guest Requests:They address guest needs and concerns, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. 

Essential Skills:
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills:They must be able to interact effectively with guests and colleagues, conveying information clearly and warmly. 

  • Organizational Skills:They need to manage reservations, seating arrangements, and other tasks efficiently. 

  • Ability to Work Under Pressure:They should be able to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment, especially during busy periods.
