Since 1970, Hellas Bakery & Pita, Inc. has been a proud cornerstone of the Greek community in Tarpon Springs. As a family-owned and operated business, we honor our heritage by crafting truly authentic Greek desserts and cuisine. We are currently seeking an experienced (3+ years of experience) and passionate Sous Chef to help lead our amazing kitchen team and deliver an outstanding dining experience to our guests.

Position Summary:

The Sous Chef will support the Executive Chef and Kitchen Management team by overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, and managing BOH staff. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about both food and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee BOH operations and supervise kitchen and dish teams during shifts
  • Create and manage prep lists and production assignments based on business needs
  • Conduct regular line checks to ensure consistent food quality and standards
  • Order food and supplies daily and manage inventory
  • Assist in controlling food and labor costs
  • Ensure smooth communication between FOH and BOH regarding orders and timing
  • Support in hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating BOH staff
  • Take part in disciplinary actions, as needed, in coordination with managers/chefs
  • Prepare high-quality meals according to guest specifications
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards
  • Open and close the kitchen and perform other duties as assigned
  • Foster teamwork and professionalism throughout the kitchen

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of previous experience as a Lead Line Cook or Sous Chef
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Thorough knowledge of kitchen stations, ingredients, equipment, and techniques
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Food manager certification
  • Culinary degree or certification preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Familiarity with Margin Edge, HotSchedules, Aloha, and KDS is a plus
