About the role
Our culinary team at Hotel Bardo Savannah is currently looking for a passionate, reliable, and personable Cooking School Chef with excellent decision-making skills to lead, train, and mentor the team supporting The Cooking School at Saint Bibiana. The Cooking School Chef is a “culture setter” who creates and nurtures positive team dynamics across the property and is passionate about creating exceptional and rare experiences for our guests and club members. This position is based in Savannah, Georgia.
What you'll do
- Lead cooking classes, providing hands-on, enriching experiences to our guests and members and guiding individuals through the intricacies of signature recipes and menus
- Oversee all aspects of the daily operation of the cooking school kitchen and food production areas; hot food from the main kitchen and bakery, and cold food from the pantry
- Monitor the quality of all food products and presentations
- Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with SOP’s in all outlets and requisition procedures
- Enforce all local health department sanitation laws
- Compute daily food costs
- Assess food portion size, visual appeal, taste, and temperature of items served
- Check all stations at the end of every shift for proper food storage and sanitation
- Check food purchases for proper ordering, quality, and price structure
- Oversee daily activities such as preparation for all food items, sanitation of the outlets, receiving daily inventories, log-on reports, and food cost reports
Qualifications
- Proven track record of facilitating engaging and interactive cooking sessions in a luxury environment
- Bring not only expertise in the culinary arts but also the ability to effectively articulate concepts in a public forum
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of team members and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by team members and guests
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Attend all resort-required meetings and training
