JOB SUMMARY:

The Banquet Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality and successful execution of all banquet functions, meetings, and special events at Sun Mountain Lodge. This role includes full financial oversight of the Banquet Department, including budgeting, purchasing, labor forecasting, and cost control. 

Key responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, and managing front-of-house banquet staff. The Banquet Manager will also collaborate on Food & Beverage department scheduling to ensure smooth operations across all events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OR FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with group coordinator to execute events at the highest level of guest service.
  • Provide table/buffet scapes for set up crew.
  • Work with chef to determine equipment needs/timing.
  • Work with maintenance to coordinate setup/flip times.
  • Attend weekly BQ Event Order meetings.
  • Review/understand BEOs and troubleshooting. 
  • Oversee execution of events.
  • Arrange transportation of equipment/staff to offsite events.
  • Structure and organization of banquets.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and submit status changes/wage increases.
  • Make and enforce policy standards.
  • Control front of house scheduling for all banquet events within food and beverage department.
  • Banquet employee relations, disciplinary action, etc.
  • Tracking and submitting banquet tip information for payroll.
  • Purchasing coordinator between all food and beverage front of house major purchases, i.e. table settings, uniforms, displays.
  • Network for the Banquet Department to coordinate information with Conference Services Department for catered functions, i.e. diagrams, worksheets, etc.
  • Maintain timely and effective interaction with Human Resources for hiring, disciplining and other employment actions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the overall quality and presentation of banquets and special events. Information net worker with the Food and Beverage Department and the Conference Services Department to assure all employees are properly informed and trained on group needs. Determined quality and quantity of displays needed and purchase the displays within department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School education required. Two years of college education with two years of management experience or four years of management experience. Position requires strong supervisory, organizational and communication skills. Must be able to deal with both guest and employee relations. Financial responsibility and planning. Must be flexible. Must have Washington State Food Handlers permit and Washington State Alcohol Server permit.  Requires constant standing, walking, handling/fingering, reaching outward and above shoulder height; requires frequent lifting of 20 pounds or less; requires occasional bending, squatting or kneeling; lifting of 21-50 pounds; and pushing/pulling activities; ability to work with all products and ingredients.  Must have a current Washington State Food Handler’s Permit and Alcohol Server Permit.

Pay is $78,000 per year
