Introduction

A vibrant, family-focused restaurant in Hartbeespoort is seeking an energetic and experienced Assistant General Manager to help oversee the full operations of a busy sit-down dining establishment. The ideal candidate will have proven experience and a strong understanding of all aspects of restaurant management, including finance, team leadership, product quality, and exceptional customer service.

Important: Applicants who do not currently reside in the Hartbeespoort area must clearly outline their relocation plans in their application. Applications without a relocation plan will not be considered.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities – Assistant General Manager

  • Oversee smooth daily floor operations, ensuring exceptional customer service at all times.

  • Lead and support waiters, runners, and floor staff during shifts to maintain high service standards.

  • Manage opening and closing procedures in line with company policies.

  • Monitor daily sales performance and assist in meeting set targets.

  • Motivate and guide staff to achieve upselling goals and customer satisfaction objectives.

  • Handle customer queries and complaints professionally and promptly.

  • Ensure all food, beverage, and service standards are strictly adhered to.

  • Assist with stock receiving, rotation, and monitoring for accuracy and freshness.

  • Work closely with the kitchen and bar teams to coordinate service flow.

  • Assist in training and onboarding new staff members.

  • Monitor cleanliness, health, and safety compliance across the restaurant.

  • Step in to cover operational gaps when the General Manager is off-site.

  • Support the GM with basic admin tasks such as shift planning and staff schedules.

 

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Matric (please don’t apply if you don’t have a completed matric)
  • Must be South African with a valid ID book
  • 2 years solid hospitality general management experience in large operations
  • Sound knowledge of the full restaurant operations
  • Proven track record and contactable references
  • Must have a vehicle and drivers licence
  • Must reside in the area or be willing to relocate
  • Must have great organisation skills
  • Must be willing to work weekends
  • Must have high energy
