Job Description

SO/ Sotogrande, a luxury hotel in the beautiful coastal town of Sotogrande, Spain, is seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As the second-in-command in our kitchen, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our discerning guests.

  • Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop innovative menus that showcase both Spanish and international cuisines
  • Manage kitchen staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment
  • Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste
  • Participate in food cost control and budget management
  • Step in for the Executive Chef when necessary, demonstrating strong leadership skills
  • Contribute to the creation of seasonal menus and special culinary events
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages creativity and professional growth

Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized culinary school
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a high-end restaurant or luxury hotel kitchen
  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role
  • Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques, menu planning, and kitchen management
  • Expertise in Spanish cuisine and familiarity with international culinary trends
  • Strong food safety knowledge and current food safety certification
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of Spanish is a plus
  • Proficiency in kitchen management software and inventory systems
  • Creativity and passion for culinary innovation
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
