Executive Chef

Location: Quail Park Communities – Visalia, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay: $27/hour

Role Purpose: Lead and elevate back-of-house kitchen operations, ensuring top-tier food quality, safety, and compliance. Partner with Food & Beverage and Dining Room leaders to deliver exceptional, nutritionally balanced dining experiences for residents.

What You’ll Do

Leadership & Team Development

  • Hire, mentor, and evaluate kitchen staff; ensure all complete required certifications and maintain training records

  • Coach the team on OSHA and state/local health regulations; supervise compliance with licensing standards

  • Collaborate with the Dining Room Manager to ensure smooth meal service

  • Provide hands-on coverage in cooking and administrative tasks as needed

  • Coordinate menu planning and special events with the Executive Chef & Dietitian

  • Participate in vendor selection and evaluation alongside Food & Beverage leadership

Operations & Food Service Management

  • Order and manage inventory of food, kitchen supplies, and dining small wares

  • Establish and enforce quality standards for food prep, storage, and presentation

  • Implement sanitation schedules in production and dining areas

  • Track inventory and vendor pricing to meet budget objectives

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in team meetings and ongoing training

  • Uphold residents’ rights and maintain strict adherence to company policies

  • Maintain reliable attendance and complete other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

Minimum Requirements:

  • Culinary arts training (certification preferred)

  • 5+ years in food service, with 3+ years in a management role

  • Experience in both hospitality and senior living environments preferred

Must Have:

  • Expertise in menu development tailored to senior residents, including NAS, CCHO, mechanical‑soft, and puree diets

  • Strong customer-service orientation

  • Proficiency with Word and Excel

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly

Certifications & Compliance:

  • Current Food Manager (8‑hr) certification

  • Valid Food Handler credentials

  • Up‑to‑date CPR/First Aid certification

  • Annual continuing education credits

  • Meets all health-related/local food-handling requirements

  • Able to complete pre-employment screening (drug, TB, physical, criminal background)
