Opportunity Overview
 
Dessert Holdings is looking for a Culinary Technician/Pastry Chef to join our team. Based out of our Aurora, CO facility. This role is for a results and detailed oriented Pastry Chef with a strong creative pastry background. The Culinary Technician/Pastry Chef will create prototype samples with direction from the Culinary Supervisor and may be for customer review and approval. They will create gold standard products for production floor use during testing and scale up. This position will assist the Culinary Innovation Team. Including design and finishing work, documentation, meetings, customer visits, testing raw materials, maintaining retain samples, and kitchen sanitation and cleanliness. This role is expected to represent the Culinary Innovation Team with the highest degree of professionalism and expertise.

The typical hiring range for this role is $23.00 - $25.00 hourly and is based on several factors such as education, work experience, skills, certifications, location, etc. In addition to pay, Dessert Holdings offers benefits such as a choice of comprehensive medical plans, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation and holidays, and retirement contribution to all eligible employees.

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Construct high-quality proof of concept samples for new desserts to support innovation and sales, including samples for customer presentation and acceptance.
  • Stay current on trending desserts and baked goods.
  • Assist the Development Chefs with developing new products within time, cost, and processing requirements as directed by the Culinary Supervisor
  • Provide data for the design and development of product specifications.
  • Maintain and organize refrigerator and freezer retains, purging on a regular basis.
  • Ensure quality standards are met throughout the facility and the process.
  • Help maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and office area.
  • Support continuous improvement and team building with a positive, forward-thinking attitude.
     
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s degree or Diploma in Pastry Arts/ Baking
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in Baking/ Pastry Arts
  • Prior experience with cake, cookie, and chocolate decorating
  • High volume kitchen production experience desired
  • Exceptional palate and sensory skills
  • Requires intermediate skill level of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
