About the Role

As a Culinary Intern, you will have the opportunity to be fully immersed in the Culinary Department and hotel outlets (e.g. Sofra bld Restaurant, Afya Restaurant, Shang Palace Restaurant, Pool Bar / Amalfi, Banquet, Lobby Lounge, and Private Dining), learning at different levels of responsibility, and working with a team. You will also provide excellent customer service, maintaining high standards of hospitality and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh ingredients for cooking according to recipes/menu as per the Shangri-La standards and policy.
• Cook food and prepare top-quality menu items in a timely manner, test food to ensure proper preparation and temperature, and operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.
• Ensure the proper sanitation and cleanliness of surfaces and storage containers including food safety practices and guidelines.
• Collaborate with colleagues to keep excellent service standards and be prepared to assist other Shangri-La colleagues/departments in a thoughtful manner.
• Empathetically listen to client queries/complaints and work with colleagues/management to find solutions

About You

• Maintains a growth mindset and willingness to learn the skills and knowledge of culinary.  
• Great teamwork skills, attention to detail, efficient, punctual, and flexible to work on a shifting schedule, weekends and holidays.
• Warm, friendly, can-do attitude, and the desire to always deliver the Shangri-La experience.
• High School, Diploma, and/or Hospitality graduate would be preferred.
• Previous customer service and/or Culinary experience in luxury hospitality/customer service is a plus.
• Lives and breathes the Shangri-La culture.
